The expression was an idea that came to me in a lesson this morning when discussing creativity and thought, wow, that would make a great lesson idea. Upon further deliberation I figured it could be the starting point for my new endeavor. Building a teaching tool for students and teachers, that can be used in individual lessons or in classrooms.
The journey started more than a year ago when I finally sat down and sketched out what the tool would look like and how it would work. That included a rough sketch of the layout and some of the functionalities that it would incorporate. Upon doing that I found out that I would need to make detailed notes for a developer to know what to build. So I sat down and did that as well. To be honest it wasn’t too time consuming, I just didn’t really want to do it. Life is busy as it is. That was more than a year ago and now I’m still at ground zero. I finally decided to engage in the project and get moving. I’ve asked one of my students, a developer himself, to give me some feedback on my notes for the web tool and maybe some guidance and what the next step is. I await eagerly.
In the meantime I have no idea what to do, because I am in completely unknown territory here.
But the idea is this, no matter the endeavor keep moving forward one step at a time and don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the entirety of the thing. It seems reasonable. I just hope I can maintain the momentum throughout, with all the daily distractions that come with life and work.
